This is a film review of "Tarzan.x.shame.of.jane.1995". The movie "Tarzan" features an actor who has become one of the biggest stars in Hollywood with his lovable charm and dazzling smile, but who was virtually unknown until the year 2000. The film's director, Stephen Hopkins, who also choreographed the movie, is a highly respected second-unit director who has won an Academy Award for best cinematographer for his work on "Aladdin". Bruno Ganz, the good-hearted antagonist "Sebastian", appears in this film as one of Tarzan's most hated enemies. Tom Cavanagh, known for his roles on the television series "Ed" and on the motion picture "The Illusionist", is cast as Tarzan nemesis Professor Porter. A native New Yorker, Cavanagh previously appeared in the 1986 film "Wings of Desire" with Stuart Townsend and Stéphane Freiss. Akira Terao, known for his role in the Japanese film "The Outsider", appears in this film as Tarzan nemesis Kurt Vonnegut. Tarzan's father, John Clayton, played by Richard Chamberlain, is not in this film. Instead the father is portrayed by Luke Perry. The name of the character in this film is spelled "Clayton". Kristin Crighton returns in the sequel to her role in the 1995 movie "Tarzan" where she portrays Jane Clayton, Tarzan's mother. The character was initially played by Michelle Yeoh in the animated television series "Batman Beyond" which was canceled after one season. Mariette Hartley, who was at one time married to Italian director Federico Fellini and costarred with him in "8½", has the smallest role in the sequel where she plays Jane Clayton's best friend.
On Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds an approval rating of 45% based on , with a weighted average rating of 4.8/10. On Metacritic, which uses a normalized rating system, the film has an average score of 50 out of 100, based on 15 critics, indicating "mixed or average reviews".
The film soundtrack was released via Ace Records on April 14th 1996. The soundtrack contains songs performed by Frankie Laine, Pierre Delanoë, Michael Cretu & Felix Der Heide, Enya, Brian Eno & David Byrne and a song performed by Antonio Vivaldi.
"Tarzan.x.shame.of.jane.1995." was filmed in the Czech Republic and at the Warner Bros. Studios in London and on location in England, Italy and France- as an extra scene with a Tarzan outfit for Jane is shown at Bletchley Park where they are decoding the German submarine signals during World War II .
